Home of the Snow Leopards
A snow leopard is a graceful, large cat that is found in the rugged mountains of Central Asia. It is not surprising that Kyrgyzstan has the second largest population of snow leopards in the world. These cats live in almost all regions of the country, across the Tien-Shan and Pamir-Alai mountain ranges. Over the last few years, the population of snow leopards in Kyrgyzstan has dropped dramatically and today it is estimated to be around 300.
